What is a suspender clip?

A suspender clip is an accessory used with suspender (garter) belts. Suspender belts are lingerie worn to hold stockings in place, and the clips are the small metal or plastic parts that grip the stockings.

The clips sit at the ends of the belt's straps and fasten to the top of the stocking. They come in many styles – some plain and simple, others decorative and ornate. While mainly used in women's lingerie, suspender clips are also found in men's sock garters.

How do you use suspender clips?

1. Put on the suspender belt: fasten it around your waist – snug, but not uncomfortable.
2. Put on your stockings.
3. Attach the clips: fasten each clip to the welt of the stocking, usually at the front and back of the thigh. Make sure the clips are in the right position.
4. Adjust: the clips should hold firmly without pulling the stocking too tight.
5. Repeat: fasten the remaining clips in the same way.

Used correctly, suspender clips keep stockings in place all day without discomfort.

What are suspender clips made of?

Suspender clips are usually made of metal or plastic. Metal clips – typically brass, nickel-plated steel or stainless steel – are durable and long-lasting. Plastic clips are lighter and generally more affordable. Both are available in different colours and sizes.
